3G: the end of an era for the Sunrise network

We would like to inform you that as of June 30, 2025, Sunrise’s 3G network will no longer be available. This technological evolution is part of the modernization of telecommunications infrastructures and aims to offer even more powerful connectivity thanks to 4G and 5G.

As a company that uses the Sunrise network to offer you our services, we want to support you in this transition to minimize any impact for you.

Why is this evolution necessary?

The 3G network, while innovative at its launch, no longer meets today’s connectivity requirements. 4G and 5G technologies offer far superior performance, including:

  • Faster speeds for streaming, data transfer and demanding applications.
  • A more reliable infrastructure, capable of handling the growing demand for data.

The end of 3G will enable us to redirect the frequencies used to 4G and 5G, strengthening network quality for all our customers.

Who is affected and what to do?

If you’re using a 4G-enabled device supporting VoLTE or 5G:
You won’t need to take any action. Your devices will continue to operate as normal and will benefit from improved connectivity.

If you are using a 3G-only device:
After June 30, 2025, these devices will no longer be able to connect to the mobile network.

For specific equipment or connected objects:
Certain devices (e.g. older modems, payment terminals or connected objects) using 3G exclusively will need to be updated or replaced.
